Summer Season: Celebrating Success and Teamwork at Holtz Farms
September 3, 2024

Overcoming Challenges with Teamwork and Resilience
As we wrap up another summer season at Holtz Farms, we’re reminded that farming is as much about resilience and adaptability as it is about the harvest. While this season presented its share of challenges, our team has risen to the occasion, ensuring a successful summer season despite the dry conditions.
Fieldwork and Crop Care
Our dedicated farm crew kicked off the summer season by harvesting the wheat and rye fields, followed by planting a diverse cover crop to keep our soil healthy and productive. In addition to fieldwork, we’ve been transporting corn to ethanol plants and Didion Milling in Cambria, WI, while treating soybeans and tassel corn with fungicide to protect them during this crucial growth stage.
Welcoming a Valuable New Team Member
We’re excited to welcome Dennis Rehr to our team as a part-time trucker. Dennis has been a tremendous asset, bringing positivity and a can-do attitude to everything he does, from trucking to maintaining our waterways.
Facility Upgrades and Preparation for Fall
This summer saw significant upgrades to our grain facility, with the addition of new storage bins and a receiving pit. Our electricians and mechanics have been working hard to ensure everything is prepared for the upcoming fall harvest.
Staying Strong During Critical Growth Stages
As we enter the critical month of August, dry conditions challenge both corn and soybeans as they reach a pivotal development stage. Despite the dry heat, our irrigation pivots are working to provide the moisture the crops need to thrive.
Looking Forward to the Soybean Harvest
We’re looking forward to starting the soybean harvest toward the end of September. With our team’s hard work, dedication, and positive energy, we’re confident this season will be another success for Holtz Farms.
